Celebrating 2 Years

I can not believe we are celebrating 2 years as a family....

Thanks to a talented and fantastic baker we ate yummy and visually appealing cookies

to celebrate our special day.

2 years ago this picture was taken on the day we left Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Theo looks small and a little out of sorts...

24 hours and a few plane rides later he was all smiles in his new home.

This year we celebrated our family day with some very special friends

The Louis family held my hand through the long international adoption

process, now we share play dates, dinners, and 

conversations that entertain and prove to remind me that

life is good and kids are kids.... love you guys!

Today is Enkutatash, Ethiopian New Year....Celebrating year 2006

This message was posted by the Ethiopian Government in Addis Ababa today.....

Ethiopia celebrates its New Year' Day for 2006 on Wednesday, September 11. The President of the Federal Democratic Republic, Girma Woldegiorgis, has conveyed his best wishes and hopes to the nation that the year will be a year of peace and prosperity for all Ethiopians.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs would also like to wish all Ethiopians and Ethiopian-born foreign citizens a happy and prosperous New Year. The Ministry hopes the new Ethiopian year, 2006, will be a year in which Ethiopians living at home or abroad will redouble their efforts to support their country's development efforts. The Ministry would also to extend its wishes that the New Year 2006, Ethiopian Calendar, will be a year when our efforts to bring lasting peace and stability throughout our sub-region will bear fruit.

Busy weekends

Back to school, means packing in fun on the weekend.
I am exhausted but we had such a good time....

We seem to visit the vet weekly,

but that's ok because it means we get to visit

Summer's end.

Summer came to an end this week....

Sunday we celebrated the official LAST DAY of summer

at our church festival.... the rides were a hit!

And while I was slaving away at school today Theo was enjoying

a water slide with his fabulous sitter and a few of his buddies.

He loved the slide and played on it all day,

and then fell asleep on the slide.

I am glad one of us is still enjoying the warm weather.

We have had many ups and downs in the last six weeks with

our sweet pup Buck.... I am hopeful he is turning the corner

but just in case we are capturing the moments as often as we can.

Make no mistake he is a vital member of our little family.

Rehoboth Beach

It has been a life of leisure for Theo and I this summer.

We have been true Beach Bums, and spent way too much time in the surf & sand.

It NEVER gets old...even when I have to carry a sandy toddler home for a nap.
